Jesus Calling Nov 30th

You can't go through life without problems, it's just not possible. They are everywhere in this lost world. When you come across a problem, many people try to fix it on their own. That is not the way to go. It becomes a habit for many people, and we need to break that habit. Go straight to God when something problematic comes up in your day.
He is your best friend, just vent to Him. Tell Him everything. Trying to fix things yourself puts you in a twist and you forget about God. You can't fix anything on your own. He knows the outcome of the situation, so why would you not go to Him first?
Just like everything else, it is all a matter of trust. Once you get the hang of it, you will see your problems just disappearing.

Psalm 32:8 (NLT)
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Luke 10:41-42 (NLT)
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Philippians 3:20-21 (NLT)
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

Jesus Calling Nov 29th

Psalm 136:1, 26 (NLT)
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His faithful love endures forever.
Sit still. Be thankful. Feel His Presence. Know He is with you always. Let Him put plant Peace within you. Let the Peace grow and fill you up. Open yourself up to His blessings. He knows your needs, let Him in. He is showing you your needs along the path you are on. He puts you in places so that you will realize how little strength you have compared to Him and what your weaknesses are so that you can work on them. You have to realize that your strength comes from Him and you have to keep holding on. Think about what your weaknesses are that you struggle with daily. Pray about them and ask God to show you the way and to help you hold on. He is pulling you closer to Him always, just let Him in and let Him help you. Trust.

Isaiah 58:11 (NLT)
The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
    and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like an ever-flowing spring.
Isaiah 40:11 (NLT)
He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
He will carry the lambs in his arms,
holding them close to his heart.
He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

Jesus Calling Nov 28th

Furious - Jeremy Riddle
How He Loves - David Crowder

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Relax by knowing how much He Loves you. Let that thought and His Love just fill you up so that you may just let your body, mind, and spirit go into His arms. Stop worrying. Worrying isn't going to make things any better. Let go of your worries, give them to God for He knows what to do. Worrying takes your focus off of God and thats not right. So refocus yourself on Him. Be aware and amazed by the unending dimensions of HIs Love. "His Love is deep, His Love is wide, and it covers us. His Love is fierce, His Love is strong, it is furious. His Love is sweet, His Love is wild, and it's waking hearts to life." Praise Him, for He Loves you unconditionally and without end!

Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT)
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Psalm 107:21-22 (NLT)
Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.
Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving
and sing joyfully about his glorious acts.

Jesus Calling Nov 27th

Give Me Your Eyes - Brandon Heath

This time of year is a special time with Thanksgiving and Christmas; I know there are lost loved ones and it can be a rough time, but this is a time to be thankful for what you do have. Thank God for the time you had with them instead of being sad that they aren't here with you anymore. Thank Him that you even knew them and for how they affected your life.
Be thankful about everything so that you can continue to communicate with Him, don't let things bring you down. The more you thank Him, the more you will see clearly what He sees. Being thankful brings so many blessings and miracles. He made you to be thankful always and keep your eyes on Him! Praise Him for all the blessings you receive from Him! It is a glorious day that the Lord has made!

Colossians 3:15 (NLT)
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Revelation 19:3-6 (NLT)
And again their voices rang out:
“Praise the Lord!
The smoke from that city ascends forever and ever!”
Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out, “Amen! Praise the Lord!”
And from the throne came a voice that said,
“Praise our God,
all his servants,
all who fear him,
from the least to the greatest.”
Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
“Praise the Lord!
For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

Jesus Calling Nov 25th

Today's devotion was pretty powerful to me. It talks about being thankful always and learning to pray more continually. Some days I do well with that, others I just forget because I am unfocused and I let the world get to me. Being thankful for everything all the time will help you to pray more often. This is something I think we all have room to improve on. It's about that constant communication with God that gets you through things. You have to make that connection and keep it going to help keep yourself away from wildly sins. Everyone has their weaknesses and you have to identify those and tell yourself up front to just stop. Then hold onto God's hand and don't let go, Don't let the evil one unravel that connection and pull you down. The evil one is very tempting and knows how to get to you. So just remember to pray and thank God all the time for what you have so that you will always be connected with Him, making it much more difficult for the evil one to get to you with his temptations. God can't always do all of the work, we have to do our share in trusting, praying, constant communication, and holding on.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)
Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

James 4:8 (NLT)
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

Romans 15:13 (NLT)
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thanksgiving Day!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope and pray that you are able to spend it with your families and those closest to you. What are you thankful for?
I cannot even begin to explain how thankful I am for my family, especially in this point in my life. Going to college and that whole step of "growing up" has helped my relationship with my family, especially my mom. There has been this whole transformation in my relationship with her, not only because I understand now, but because of many prayers, and fights we've fought against each other in the past, and now together against struggles in our life. I remember how there was some tension in the past, but that is all gone now, and I praise the Lord for that each and everyday! I love her so much, and am very thankful for her and for all that she has done for me in the past and now, especially on this day of thanksgiving that the Lord has given us.

The devotion in "Jesus Calling" today, is sort of a continuation of yesterday's talking about thankfulness. Having a thankful attitude in all situations can change your view on what is going on. It will help you to see what is good and righteous in your life and what you need to get rid of. It will let you taste what Heaven will be like. Being thankful is a way of communicating love with God and with others around you. Although actions most often speak louder than words, a simple thank you to someone such as a janitor or bus driver shows that you care.
I challenge you to notice the often unnoticed people, thank them for what they do and say something along the lines of "I hope you have a wonderful day!"
Being thankful to God is a way of praising Him and showing Him your gratitude for what He has provided and will provide for you. Be thankful in all you do!
Colossians 4:2 (NLT)
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NLT)
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
    and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
    and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

Psalm 46:1 (NLT)
God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.

Jesus Calling Nov 21st

All Things Possible - Mark Shultz

Today's devotion is kind of an extension of yesterday's. It talks about how we should be thankful about everything. Most importantly thankful for His Peace and Presence. That is how He comforts people. And the way to receive those gifts even more in their fullness, is to thank God for them all the time.
We can never spend too much time begin thankful and praising God. That is one of our number one purposes here is to praise Him for all of His greatness. That keeps you in a good relationship with Him, and it keeps the blessing flowing.

Luke 24:36 (NLT)
And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said.

Matthew 28:20 (NLT)
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Hebrews 13:15 (NLT)
Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

Jesus Calling Nov 20th

Everlasting God - Lincoln Brewster

Hey guys! I apologize for this break that I've had in blogging. I've just been so busy and out of routine that I have had absolutely no time. I have totally missed it way more than I ever thought I would! And I've been a little down and hard on myself for not blogging the past few days, but then I read the devotion this morning. I feel renewed and refreshed and know that its okay because blogging is the work He put me up to; and these past few days I have failed to perform well in that, but I know that He still loves me. And I know that I am not supposed to be worshipping the good work I do for Him as something of my own that has power, because that is idolatry. I need to keep my focus on His Presence and all the Love that He is giving me. We need not ever forget that! Thank Him for everything! Trust Him with everything!
That is how we are going to make it in this world! Know He Loves you unconditionally no matter what you've done! Trust Him with all your heart in everything you do! Thank Him for all the good and bad and anything in your life! Because it is a blessing to have life!

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Psalm 62:8 (NLT)
O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Jesus Calling Nov 14th

God understands you most of anyone. He loves you unconditionally. And He can satisfy all of your needs. Put aside the views you and others have of yourself and let God's views enter your mind. He sees you as radiantly shining with His righteousness and clean with His love and mercy on you. He sees you as the one He really made you to be, who you are trying to become and who you will be when you get to Heaven. His is changing you all the time in your heart. Be thankful for His Spirit deep within you, guiding and protecting you and shaping your heart and being.
Today focus on relying on the Spirit to get you where you need to go and through what you need to do. Take several times throughout your day to pause and talk to the Spirit thanking for what has happened and what is to come. Asking for guidance. You are not forced to do anything, but the Spirit is always guiding you. It is your choice to follow or not. Go through this day practicing it with the Spirit guiding you.

Psalm 34:5 (NLT)
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Galatians 5:25 (NLT)
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Jesus Calling Nov 13th

Today's devotion is really powerful, it really took me over. I would like for you all to have the same experience. Before reading, empty your mind and open your heart and connect with God. Feel His Presence.

"I Am Christ in you, the hope of Glory. The One who walked beside you, holding you by your hand, is the same One who lives within you. This is a deep, unfathomable mystery. You and I are intertwined in an intimacy involving every fiber of your being. The Light of My Presence shines within you, as well as upon you. I am in you, and you are in Me, therefore, nothing in heaven or on earth can separate you from Me.
As you sit quietly in My Presence, your awareness of My Life within you is heightened. This produces the Joy of the Lord, which is your strength. I, the God of hope, fill you with all Joy and Peace as you trust in Me, so that you may bubble over with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Young 332).

Romans 15:13 (NLT)
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Calling Nov 12th

Have you noticed lately a lot of blessings in your life? I'm sure they are more abundant than you realize because God is always blessing you. After a long trudging uphill you will eventually reach a place a relaxation and joyfulness. He wants us to enjoy the times of relaxation and everything He provides us with. Sometimes people feel like they don't deserve what God blesses them with, you're right to know that no one deserves it, but look beyond that and know that God is giving it to you anyways because He loves you. He is sad when people do not accept His gracious gifts, but when we celebrate at what He provides He smiles upon us.

Psalm 23:5 (NLT)
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
    My cup overflows with blessings.

John 3:16 (NLT)
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Luke 11:9-10 (NLT)
And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Romans 8:32 (NLT)
Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

Jesus Calling Nov 11th

First take a moment in prayer to thank God for the freedom you have in America and for the solders who have fought and continue to fight for you to give you that right! Thank a veteran today!

You Are - Colton Dixon

Don't let anything slow you down. God gives you new strength every morning. He knows more what your day is going to be like than you do. He does not give you the same amount of strength everyday, He gives you strength according to what is ahead and what you are going through today. When you wake up don't dread the day and say "oh great, busy day ahead this is going to be awful…I'll never make it" Instead say "Good Morning God! Thank you so much for this new day and this new opportunity I have to serve you and love other people. Please give me the strength I need to make it through this busy day."
The strength He gives you each day is according to what you have ahead of you that day and how much you really trust Him. Life is a game of trust, and there is not really a way out of it. Just be positive about everything and you'll be just fine. Be thankful for everything good and bad. God loves you and is working in your life if you open up your heart to Him and trust.

Ephesians 1:18-20 (NLT)
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

Psalm 105:4 (NLT)
Search for the Lord and for his strength;
    continually seek him.

Deuteronomy 33:25 (NLT)
May the bolts of your gates be of iron and bronze;
may you be secure all your days.”

Jesus Calling Nov 9th

Beginning to End - Rush of Fools
Do not let fears and worries about the future slow you down now, live in the present. Just let all of your fears and worries go into His Arms and His Light. He will rid you of them. There is no need to worry about the future because He is with you always. You are picturing the future without Him whether you realize it or not. Because He is the same today and tomorrow and forever He will always be taking care of you. He is the only one who really knows your future. So just quit worrying.
Anytime a worry about the future pops into your head, just push it away into the Light that God is shining upon you. "Say to yourself 'Jesus will be with me then and there. With His help, I can cope!'" (Young 328)
Return your mind to the present time and moment where Jesus is always living!

Luke 12:22-26 (NLT)
Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT)
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NLT)
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Jesus Calling Nov 8th

Who Am I - Casting Crowns

You have to train yourself to be thankful for the rough days. You're gonna have those days, its just part of life. Reminisce on the good days. And place your confidence in Him that you will experience more of those amazing days. He will get you through anything if you just hold on to Him and trust Him.
Think about your life in the past, remember those tough times you had before? Look at where you are now? God got you through those and He will do it again. Just because its a different day and a new problem doesn't mean that He isn't going to help you. HE IS!!! AND HE WILL!! He never changes! He is the same forever!

Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Psalm 102:27 (NLT)
But you are always the same;
    you will live forever.

Acts 17:28 (NLT)
For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

Jesus Calling Nov 7th

Put aside your worries and wonders and anger about this election stuff, just get it out of your mind. It is poisonous to the mind. Do not be the spreader of negativity because your candidate did not win. Just put it all aside and remain positive and confident in the Lord who is the Almighty One in charge.

God is the holiest One. Worship that aspect of Him. He is always doing work within you, loving you and strengthening you and building you up. He is cleaning you up inside, because you need to get rid of all the chaos and disorder to have a place for His Spirit to live within you. Be in communication with Him so that you will know what is going on. Be prepared to let go of anything He wills you to. He has a better plan and a better place for you than where you're at right now. He promises that for sure! You must rely on Him for your well being, not things. Don't be materialistic because He is the ultimate one that you will find content in. You must be grateful for all that He gives you. He is in control, so just trust Him with all your heart.

Psalm 29:2 (NLT)
Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Psalm 27:4 (NLT)
The one thing I ask of the Lord
    the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
    delighting in the Lord’s perfections
    and meditating in his Temple.

Good to Be Alive - Jason Gray

Jesus Calling Nov 6th

No better devotion for Election day than one on decisions.
Your ultimate goal should be to please God. There are so many choices you have to make each and every day. Some days, like today, huge decisions, but most days a lot of little decisions. Sometimes you have to make your choices really fast and don't have much time to think, that is why you must rely on God to point you in the right direction. Most people just choose based on things they do on a regular basis and what they want for themselves. That is not the way of the Lord. Remember we are to please Him above all else. So that means you are to look to Him for the answer. Pray about everything. He will guide you where He wants you to go. "A quick glance at Me is all you need to make the right choice," (Young 325)

John 8:29 (NLT)
And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.”

Psalm 37:4 (NLT)
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Magnificent Obsession - Stephen Curtis Chapman

Jesus Calling Nov 4th

Remember not to get overwhelmed. God is with you and He will help you get through things. Just because you have a lot to do does not mean you should stray away from Him or forget about Him. He is the one who is going to get you through, if you let Him. If you let things get to you though and ignore Him then you will struggle more. Don't sit around and think about all that you have to get done, don't do a play-by-play in your head. Just forget about it and move one step at the time. That is how you get through things, isn't it? One baby step at the time.
Anyone remember the song from the old Christmas Rudolph movie when the snow wizard is learning how to move on? "Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking 'cross the floor! Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walkin' out the door!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OORsz2d1H7s
We have to treat our relationship with God like that song. We have to take one little step at the time and we will grow faster and faster. And soon it will come more naturally to you. You will get the hang of it if you just keep trying and pushing through the tough times. We don't want to get so used to it that we forget about God in all of it, but we want the steps to come as a more natural process to us in our walk with Him. Remember to let Him guide the way though!

Exodus 33:14 (NLT)
The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”

Psalm 29:11 (NLT)
The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace.

Jesus Calling Nov 3rd

Just because something got in your way and ruined your plans doesn't mean you should get all upset, it means talk to God. He always blesses you when you talk to Him and it makes you stronger in Him. Also, instead of being all down about what you missed it helps you to be thankful for all opportunities that He gives you. It takes away the hurt. When you get in the habit of going to Him you set yourself up for discipline in practicing being in His Presence. It prepares you for bigger events in the future.

Colossians 4:2 (NLT)
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Philippians 3:7-8 (NLT)
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Chris

Jesus Calling Nov 2nd

Give Me Faith - Elevation Worship

Just because you may be weak doesn't mean God isn't with you. That means He is even closer to you. He wants you to grow stronger through Him. He is shining His light on you so that you can do so. His Spirit is always in you, keeping you strong. Sometimes you just don't realize it and you feel weak and alone. You are never alone. Don't be so hard on yourself because you keep falling and need help. Just go to Him for help, go to Him telling Him all that you need and He will comfort you. Train yourself not to complain when you struggle, but to get up and thank Him for all that He blesses with. Doing that shows that you trust Him and know He is with you and has you safe in His arms.

Psalm 116:1-8 (MSG)
I love God because he listened to me,
listened as I begged for mercy.
He listened so intently
as I laid out my case before him.
Death stared me in the face,
hell was hard on my heels.
Up against it, I didn’t know which way to turn;
then I called out to God for help:
“Please, God!” I cried out.
    “Save my life!”
God is gracious—it is he who makes things right,
    our most compassionate God.
God takes the side of the helpless;
when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me.
I said to myself, “Relax and rest.
God has showered you with blessings.
    Soul, you’ve been rescued from death;
    Eye, you’ve been rescued from tears;
And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling.”

Isaiah 30:15-17 (MSG)
God, the Master, The Holy of Israel,
    has this solemn counsel:
“Your salvation requires you to turn back to me
and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves.
Your strength will come from settling down
    in complete dependence on me—
The very thing
    you’ve been unwilling to do.
You’ve said, ‘Nothing doing! We’ll rush off on horseback!’
You’ll rush off, all right! Just not far enough!
You’ve said, ‘We’ll ride off on fast horses!’
Do you think your pursuers ride old nags?
Think again: A thousand of you will scatter before one attacker.
Before a mere five you’ll all run off.
There’ll be nothing left of you—
a flagpole on a hill with no flag,
a signpost on a roadside with the sign torn off.”

Jesus Calling Nov 1st

It's difficult to stay focused, and God understands that. We just have to try our best. So don't be down about not being able to keep your attention fully on Him. Just get up and try again. Try every day all the time. If it is truly fully in your heart  to be totally focused on Him and living in His Presence, He knows. Just keep shooting for that goal. But don't let other feelings get in the way of this goal. He is so happy to know that you are wanting to be constantly in His Presence. He loves you and loves every time you talk to Him. He can see how far you have come since you first began.
The world is a giant place full of distractions everywhere you go. When you realize you've lost focus on Him, just push through it to get back to focusing on Him. When you make it through small things like that you can celebrate and let it brighten your day.

Deuteronomy 4:29 (NLT)
But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.

Hebrews 4:13-16 (NLT)
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
