Jesus Calling August 31st

Proverbs 3:5-12 (MSG)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
   don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
   he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.
   Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
   your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
   give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
   your wine vats will brim over.
But don't, dear friend, resent God's discipline;
   don't sulk under his loving correction.
It's the child he loves that God corrects;
   a father's delight is behind all this.

We are weak, but He is Strong! He can give us strength. He holds you in the palm of His hand. Since we are weak, we must live by trusting in the Lord. We must totally depend on Him to make it through the day. By human nature, we want to do things on our own. But God wants us to depend on Him for everything. He will strengthen you along the way. He loves you unconditionally, and He will never stop loving you! He will get you through what ever you are going through if you just trust Him with your whole heart! Give Him your all!

Isaiah 40:27-31 (MSG)
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
   or, whine, Israel, saying,
"God has lost track of me.
   He doesn't care what happens to me"?
Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?
God doesn't come and go. God lasts.
   He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.
   And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
   gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
   young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
   They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
   they walk and don't lag behind.

How He Loves - David Crowder Band

Jesus Calling August 30th

Psalm 139:7-12 (MSG)
Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
      to be out of your sight?
   If I climb to the sky, you're there!
      If I go underground, you're there!
   If I flew on morning's wings
      to the far western horizon,
   You'd find me in a minute—
      you're already there waiting!
   Then I said to myself, "Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
      At night I'm immersed in the light!"
   It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to you;
      night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to you.

God is everywhere. You are never alone. You cannot flee nor hide from Him because He will find you. He knows you. He never leaves you. There is no reason to run from Him, because He takes pride and delight in you.
Hagar tried to run from God, but it didn't work. God knew exactly where she was.

Genesis 16:7-14 (MSG)
An angel of God found her beside a spring in the desert; it was the spring on the road to Shur. He said, "Hagar, maid of Sarai, what are you doing here?"
   She said, "I'm running away from Sarai my mistress."
The angel of God said, "Go back to your mistress. Put up with her abuse." He continued, "I'm going to give you a big family, children past counting.

   From this pregnancy, you'll get a son: Name him Ishmael;
      for God heard you, God answered you.
   He'll be a bucking bronco of a man,
      a real fighter, fighting and being fought,
   Always stirring up trouble,
      always at odds with his family."
She answered God by name, praying to the God who spoke to her, "You're the God who sees me!
   "Yes! He saw me; and then I saw him!"
That's how that desert spring got named "God-Alive-Sees-Me Spring." That spring is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.

Zephaniah 3:16-17 (MSG)
Jerusalem will be told:
   "Don't be afraid.
Dear Zion,
   don't despair.
Your God is present among you,
   a strong Warrior there to save you.
Happy to have you back, he'll calm you with his love
   and delight you with his songs.

Jesus Calling August 29th

Closer - Shawn McDonald

Stop. Everything you need to do can wait. God comes first. Stop worrying about getting your to do list done. Sitting alone in quiet with God will bring you strength to get your things done and to make it through the day. It shows you trust Him. By spending that quiet time with Him, you are praising Him and declaring His Presence known. "Wait before you work." Trusting so boldly weakens all other powers against you. Stay close to Him and evil will not get you. He will show you the way. The world is so busy and complicated that you are bound to get lost alone. Use your energy for the good things, don't waste it on the bad. You can get consumed by everything around you so easily, but God can renew your energy and light your path. "As you look to Me for guidance, I enable you to do less but accomplish more." (Sarah Young, Jesus Calling 252)

Luke 12:22-28 (MSG)
He continued this subject with his disciples. "Don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more.
"Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can't even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don't fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

Proverbs 16:3 (MSG)
Put God in charge of your work,
   then what you've planned will take place.

Jesus Calling August 28th

Heaven Fall Down - Phil Wickham

Enjoy the Light and Presence God surrounds you with, gather your strength there. You gain positivity and you grow in your faith. We are to interact and sit with God face to face, it brings strength to your soul. Being with God in such a way shows us what Heaven is going to be like. And in Heaven, there will be nothing between you and God. We will truly see His Face and look into His eyes! He blesses us through this connection with Him, it gives us hope for the future, for Heaven, and for His Joy.

Psalm 4:6-8 (MSG)
Why is everyone hungry for more? "More, more," they say.
   "More, more."
   I have God's more-than-enough,
   More joy in one ordinary day
Than they get in all their shopping sprees.
   At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep,
   For you, God, have put my life back together.

Jesus Calling August 27th

God can make anything better. Spend time with Him so He can brighten your day. He makes the same old boring routine stuff shine! He gives you new opportunities. When you do the same thing everyday it can seem like nothing is getting better and your mind is scooting away from what really matters. Then you become unfocused, and that makes it easier for your mind to slip away into the darkness of the world. It pulls you away from God, and you have to bring yourself back. Call out to Jesus! The worst of days can bring the best of results if you just follow His lead. He is always with you!

Psalm 119:105-112 (MSG)
By your words I can see where I'm going;
      they throw a beam of light on my dark path.
   I've committed myself and I'll never turn back
      from living by your righteous order.
   Everything's falling apart on me, God
      put me together again with your Word.
   Festoon me with your finest sayings, God
      teach me your holy rules.
   My life is as close as my own hands,
      but I don't forget what you have revealed.
   The wicked do their best to throw me off track,
      but I don't swerve an inch from your course.
   I inherited your book on living; it's mine forever—
      what a gift! And how happy it makes me!
   I concentrate on doing exactly what you say—
      I always have and always will.

Jesus Calling August 26th

We have to trust. Even in the worst of times. We can't blame stuff on God, He is protecting us, holding us, keeping us safe. We can experience His Peace when we sit and take in His Presence in silence. That will calm us. His Presence is within us, we just have to find it during the hard times. We are firmly planted in God, so we cannot have that taken away from us. We you feel overwhelmed or struggling, get away from what is causing that, take some time off, go sit alone in the quiet. God's got it! He has you in His arms! It's going to be alright! Just trust Him! Say "I trust you Jesus!" Refocus yourself! Search from Him in everything! He is there! Always! He will open up to you when you find Him! He will show you what is right! He will show you the way! Do not be afraid!

John 16:31-33 (MSG)
Jesus answered them, "Do you finally believe? In fact, you're about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I'm not abandoned. The Father is with me. I've told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the world."

Psalm 105:1-6 (MSG)
  Hallelujah! Thank God! Pray to him by name!
      Tell everyone you meet what he has done!
   Sing him songs, belt out hymns,
      translate his wonders into music!
   Honor his holy name with Hallelujahs,
      you who seek God. Live a happy life!
   Keep your eyes open for God, watch for his works;
      be alert for signs of his presence.
   Remember the world of wonders he has made,
      his miracles, and the verdicts he's rendered—
         O seed of Abraham, his servant,
         O child of Jacob, his chosen.
